The Current boat
It is gel coat, one lay of glass mat and a bit of chopper gun glass to smooth out some edges. It is so thin in some places that it leaks. It is now dissassembled and all the wood is out. It is just the bare hull. It weighs less than 100 lbs.

The Plan
I was going to shorten it to 12 ft. to make it a GT30 boat, but decided not to because it would require too much work on the bottom. I think I can make it light enough for GT30 and or T750.
I plan to lay complete kevlar cloth in the bottom. I know kevlar doesn't bend well, so I need to fill in and round out all of those areas.
First question:
What filler do you suggest?
Second question:
I know there are different weights of kevlar and also some kevlar sheets are more costly than others.
What kevlar do you suggest?
Third question?
The boat is going to have a complete composite core strong box and a balistic core transom. What is the best way to bond these into the boat with a kevlar bottom ?

Hdog, TORC's M Arlt has built numerous National Championship Kevlar boats, 'Arltralites'.
Grimes' yellow FEH missile is a A/lite,....and other CSH hydro's.
S Utman has also built w Kevlar, worked with Arlt.

Not sure if Rob used kevlar in the other parts. I bet he did. I will be working on this boat in the summer, I want to purchase all the materials before spring, so I have everything on hand. I will post pictures when we start working on it. I may get some of the hydro guys to give me a hand with the initial kelvar lay up. More experienced hands make for a faster and better job. Once the kevlar is in the hull it will take alot of fitting to do the strong box. I plan on making a jig for the strong box. The strong box will go from the transom well up under the nose to strengthen the weak areas. All of the steering, foot peddles etc. will be in single independent assembly like an F1 tunnel boat. I should be able to move that assembly and the seat all at the same time to find the perfect position. You may have noticed the British T boats have their steering and seat positions farther back than we do. I'm thinking that having more weight to the stern could be an advantage in a T750 or GT30 boat. With this set up, I will be able to test this theory.

It has been a tough summer in Muskoka. I have been working on the Critchfield, but only as long as my patience can bear. This boat is so weak that one mistake and the boat would break. It is similar to working on an egg. The good news is. I got all of the bad out of it without any damage. I now have a 100 lb shell. The next step is to grind and sand the inside to remove the excess pools of resin, poor glass bond areas and prep it for the next step. The boat is not going to be Kevlar. I am going to do the inside in Carbon fiber using the West System.

Once I get it finished I will post pictures of the stages. I have gotten so mad at this boat working on it that I may mash it to pieces.

NNOOOOO! dont do that ,, i know how it feels i wanted my baja done for Gravenhurst, but didnt make it and had to take a break, so it hasn't gotten any attention since,, im about to re-start it again,, .. i friend of mine told me however long i think its going to take multiply that by 4 then add 10 hours,, and i might get it done in time..
