I think Allison designed the hulls for mid range power. It may be that compared to an STV, the set up and driving gets very difficult at greater speeds. I'm not sure why they talk about the 100 mph wall with the GS, but the benefits of 260 vs 225 on that hull seem small, based on posted speed claims.

There is a lot of course to Shiver's point about diminishing returns with money as well.

Grandsport - Anyone who says there is not much difference, hasn't tried both. Top end might be only 10 mph apart but hole shot and acceleration is no comparison.

Procomp, I don't doubt more power is a better experience. I'd like to trade up from my XR4 to a 225 PM, not to go faster, but for the mid range.

If you want more speed you have to unlock the pad. Was in an in depth conversation with Darris last Sunday late afternoon about the pad vs speed vs power.
Haven't any of you Allison owners noticed the somewhat lack of top end aerodynamic lift ??? If you play with the pad both with respect to to port to starboard rocker and as well as overall depth and in what areas of the pad you will unlock the top end potential of any Allison.
Then you will know how good of an Allison driver you truly are or .... aren't

David , how fast do you think you boat would go with a 225 pm?

Or you could just buy a STOCK Triad or SRV and mash the throttle... No chance of doing any sudden left turns...

In fact the Triad V21 is in most part came from an Allison GT 20 that has a slight pad change and a better looking deck. Darris was hot to attack but more then 20% of the boat was changed ( due mainly because of the deck mold change ) .

On a side note ... they all make their own turns when they blow out :D

Triad Vee came from an Allison GT20 ;)

:The Allison and Triads are SO different it unreal, the BS about it being a splash is laughable
-different length
-different width
-different deadrise
-variable deadrise
- different pad with
-and finally 3 set of strakes

Other than that they are the same!" - Rob Twible.

I will say that there was certainly some inspiration. But no way that the boat is an allison.

AAAANNNND........ Triads absolutely DO NOT Spin when blowing out. I have blown mine out more than once... The bow drops and it veers very slightly right. VERY SLIGHTLY. Then you trim down and hammer it again.. lol.
