we have a oil powered hot water furnace and unless your house is insulated very well not much point in having it.

I have a forced air furnace in my 40 by 80 shop and its more efficient than the house.

IMO everything is efficient if you well insulate what ever your heating.

I think wood pellet stoves are the best thing since sliced bread. one of my friends has a 3500sqft house and buys 1 skid of pellets a year i think he was saying its $1200 or $1400. his pellet stove is in the middle of his basement and it heats the whole house! we are talking 78 allllll winter for $1400.00 give or take a few$.

pellet stoves are amazing. If I lived there, I'd think of that. We use the wood stove lots when we are there.

my hvac guy says go propane, call the local propane supplier and see if they will cut you a deal on a furnace! when they pick a model and quote,post it and i'll see if it's a decent deal and good equipment! don't go to sears! OIL IS DEFINATELY OUT OF THE QUESTION [THREE flame failures on light up AND IT WILL LOCK OUT!] because the house is unoccupied a lot of the time make sure they supply a furnace that will continue to try and relight many times before lockout! and it will need to have the surface ignitor or flamerod checked every year!

I just switched my two furnaces and heat pumps to propane and straight up air conditioners. Not too many people who are good at heat pumps out there. My hydro had just jumped to $915 per mth, but my old system was from 1987 and falling into disrepair. Hope to save a lot of money!
Paid $14k after $2k in rebates which I have to wait for.
