would be an interesting combo for sure. actually x is <1000cc https://www.apba.org/sites/all/files/do ... Trules.pdf 30.009 page 2. Last year the Yackos both showed up with mod 59 setups and ran x. They won half the races.

I did not know your rules were different to CBF rules:
X Class Open to motors that do not comply with the above class. Engines shall not exceed 950cc. This
is not meant to exclude the above classes or UIM classes from participating in this class should
entry numbers require it. Example, P750, P750S, TC750S and TC750 are legal entries in this
class
LOVE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE MOD MERCURY 59'r MOTOR
- Mike W. has posted on Ron's site that his OMC X motors make 110 hp at the crank
- I checked with Jeff Dunn about his custom pistons and sleeves...drag guys run low 70's with his mod 59
- Jon at Hydro Tec has built some strong 59's, but I don't know the hp.
- all of those 59's I don't think are as strong as Mike's X motors...But could be a good motor for drag!!
- the problem here is finding a 59 short shaft...there have been several not to costly 52 shorts come up for sale.
They say you can switch the base plate on the 52 and mount a 59...?? 59 long shafts are around.

IF? you are rebuilding an old damaged 3 cylinder nitro lower unit . I would buy a good 2 cylinder nitro case and rebuild it using the new gear set and your 3 cylinder drive shaft. The 80's 2 cylinder nitro has the good carrier, good prop shaft and most never have internal damage. They are not that costly to purchase.
