Thanks for the advice guys, I am not going to worry about adding power trim. We will experiment with the tilt pin and maybe engine height next summer and go from there. I have to keep reminding myself that the Voodoo is for the kids :) I think I will add a set of plastic reeds though and try and find another prop, I like to always have a spare prop just in case.

Hey, I am also following this thread for advise on setup.

Would like to add to the discussion, if someone could suggest a good steering setup without going cables/pulleys and wing plates. Something that uses the tilt tube, but has very low slop/backlash and good feel.

I don't think I would settle for anything but string steering if you want feel and no slop.

Yeah, I keep hearing such things. And that's certainly the endgame if raceboat, but I kinda wan to keep it factory if possible for near future.

The single rack Ride Guide in my other boat seems better than what is in this Voodoo. And I'm guessing there has got to be something nicer than that basic Ride Guide from 1980.

Any recommendations on a prop? it came with a 11.25 x 21 OMC SST prop. Seems to work ok but like to have 2 in case something happens to one. Been searching and there doesn't seem to be many options for the 2 cyl omc's (I assume it has the small dia gearcase?) in a pitch over 19". As I have mentioned, not looking for all out top end, just a good all around prop that takes off well.

Ive found a really good steering set up, its actually an off the shelf system but with another off the shelf helm on it. Im running a teleflex dual cable system with a non NFB helm on it. There is very little slop in it and this is what i am using on my delta/sst60 combo. This works well for a lake racer setup but if i was racing it may not cut it

I have a 21 Renegade and a 24 Raker you could borrow. Do 4 cyl OMC/BRP props fit the 2 cyl gearcases? Depending how things go I may sell the Renegade. I should sell the Raker.

Thanks for the offer but pretty sure those props won't fit my 2 cyl small diameter gearcase.

Renegade might work. It has a smaller hub.

I think your Renegade is probably too big of a diameter. looks like around 12.5" diameter would be the biggest for room under the cavitation plate. Don't think the little 2cyl 50hp would spin a 13"+ diameter prop anyways even if it fit.
