I'm hoping there might be some guys on here with Chevy parts. I need a set of 487x heads. Can't have any grinding marks on them. If you or anyone you know has a set, please let me know. 2.02 valves preferred but I can have them machined for the bigger valves if they are 1.94.

You must need them for a period correct, because GM Performance Parts has Vortec 2.00/1.550 heads that are way better. Daul bolt patterns for early or late intake. Small port #25534421 or big port # 25534446 . http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/cylinder-h ... arent=1062 http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/25534446 .

I'm looking for these ones for circle track racing. They have to be bigger than 74cc and have the same size valves they came with say the rules. 487x seems to be about the only head I can find that was open chamber with 2.02 valves. Most tracks just say 1.94 max but since they don't have that rule, I may as well take advantage of it...

If I recall correctly these heads were on Corvette 71 and 72 LT1 low compression motors. The were 75 cc and the X model had a slightly longer runner and the larger valves. Still a very poor performance head even with a lot of work done to them. I will see if one of my old vette guys has a original pair. If so they would have been sitting since 1971.

That all sounds about right. Missed out on at least a couple nice rebuilt sets on eBay over the last couple months for a decent price. Didn't have the funds. Now that I do, can't find any. Ya, if you know anyone that has some, let me know. I really want to get going on my new engine build.

Do rules make you check chamber cc? Most of those old heads have been cut so you might be working chambers to get size back.

Not supposed to be any less than 74cc. I found a set of bare castings for $150 I'm going to have checked out and rebuilt if they're not cracked or anything. 487x heads are supposed to be a good heavy casting so hopefully all is good. I'd still pick up another set for the right price if there is any out there.
