Such a great day Saturday. I had tons fun for my first time out. The community of racers, volunteers - - the help, advice and support was phenomenal. Thanks to all! I'll definitely be out again next year.

Super fun racing in Hali. Great too see and meet everyone, even the plywood guys and girls . The water was fast and the racing was fast … Ryan Floats was great help again this weekend and has some awesome photos from the start barge… The weekend was super fun Too lazy and tired too add more tonight...

Had a great time on Saturday! Seems like it's going to be a great venue. Turn out looked good. If I had a complaint it's that it went too long... The little boats seem to have WAY too many classes that spectators could care less about. Most Spectators were gone home by the time the drags started which was unfortunate. That's the nature of racing I suppose, "Hurry up and wait". Kudos to all the people who make these events happen, I know its a ton of work! I wish we could have made Sunday but it wasn't in the cards.

Even though I didn't race this weekend I had a great time working in the pits for Captain Third Place- Kenny LaRue great seeing everyone again! I have a few shots of the drags both Saturday and Sunday.. and a few vids of the Saturday lake racer drags! they will be uploaded soon

It did go way too long, some learning curves with the huge turn out, new event location, and crammed pits and launching space for 3 boats at time. Sunday was much better. Done at 5pm I think it was. If ya don't like the way circle races run though... No one stopping Drags from organizing their own event. The club members own businesses in that town, who put the race on, and raised thousands and thousands of dollars in that little town, and pulled off the biggest race in 25 years, and who race the little circle boats, will be glad to know the spectators could careless about them.

on sunday the drags ran first,. the plywood guys have a way bigger fan base, entry level,sponsorships. so they support the races way more than us drag guys ever could,, they get to call the shots, i'm just glad were allowed to race :be: was a great weekend anyway beautiful weather and was a huge turn out.

One has to admire how well this "first time" event went off.
Sure there'll be growing pains but all in all, it was very well done.
Everyone will figure out how to best work within the confines of the system and put on a better event next year.

As to the "plywood boats" comment.
It did seem at times that I was looking at the same boats all too frequently. I used to know all the classes but time has made that a bit foggy.
I know drivers change motors to meet class requirements as they've always done. The question is, does the viewing public?

Part of the growing pains will be informing spectators who's racing and when.
The organizers will likely realize this and address the need for...
- wider coverage of PA system (who could have know spectators would be stretched for 1/4 mile)
- a hard copy program. Admission was free, a program might help spectators identify classes, drivers, daily schedule and might actually pay for itself through advertising and a small cover price.

My two cents

Great race weekend Big thanks goes out to Barb Hammond for all her work with the Town and sponsors. With out here we wouldn't have the venue. We had a record number of entries this weekend and ran a bit long on Saturday. The Key thing is that everyone ran. We learned a lot Saturday and were able to get the full set of races in on Sunday by 5pm that is no small feat when you think there were over 120 entries, Racing is racing, and in the interest of time it was the race committee call to move drags to the end of the first day to help speed the day up. I was part of the decision and It was the right call. It doesn't do anybody any good to pit T's and Drags against Hydro's . None of us can do this on our own. We are all racers and love our motor sports. Can TORC do a better Job of putting Boat and Class information into the spectators hands? Of course we can but it takes money, time and volunteers. All of which are in short supply. This was the best event I have ever been a part of and it can only get better. So if you want to see this get better, I would encourage anyone to attend the general meeting this fall. That is the place to table suggestions and find out what you can do to help. !
