I can't believe we have been struggling all these years when 1.6 gears were available right under our noes.

All this talk about 1.6 gears, I'm going to propose the idea to a machine shop I know of that has made from scratch ring and pinion gears for automotive. I've seen his work and I'm sure l/u gears are well within his skill set.

Yes that's what I was thinking. Likely not cheap, but, nothing in this hobby ever is. He made a set of one-off ring and pinion gears for a 1958 Ferrari I worked on, and he had basically nothing to go on. I'm sure he could come up with something. The Ferrari gearset was $3500.00  , but there was a lot more to it.

Can't see why it couldn't be done. I thought about doing this for the nitro gear cases. I never bothered though since you can still easily get them from Seaway at an alright price. I would still hire a gear cutting shop to design it and tell you what material to use, hardness, etc.

It's the gold....everyone thinks it's real lol.

Rick, you are right. I had forgotten the price of gold these days. Can you imagine what it would be worth if it has platinum plugs in it?
