my boat has a rooster tail when trimmed up and motor is at 5600 rpm. boat slows down like this . if i trim it down then the rpm drops at wide open and boat goes no faster. i figure i have something set up wrong but not sure what. i hope i have explained this right.

While rooster tails have a cool factor of 11 out of 10 they are indicative of wasted power. I know when my boat runs its fastest the rooster tail isn't even close to what it can be at its slower over trimmed state. All that said what is your boat / motor / prop / jack plate combo (I am going out on a limb that it is a Voodoo :P ) and the pros can chime in on setup.

It sounds like you're blowing out as you trim up. Keeping all your parts the same (not buying new props etc) you could try lowering the motor a bit until you get grip and can carry the bow. Is the boat solid? did it ever carry the bow?

Is the bottom straight? Doesn't take much of a hook to keep the front glued down to the water.

yes it carried the bow before and the boat is so;id. never left in the water. The wife said that after i put the jack plate on I never used it much so that is likely the problem. didnt play with the set up and noticed from old pictures the motor is up on the transom but up higher with the jackplate. going to lower it on the weekend and see what happens.
Thanks for the help. Hope to try racing in T750 next year.
