Since the flushing attachment doesn't supply water to the water pump it's not a good idea to start or run the motor on it. Even on the muffs they'll get hot if you go much above idle.

it seems to shower the impeller from the top and still builds water pressure and water never staops coming out of the low water pickup. im not saying do it but..... lol... buzzer never goes off and the impeller never melts... sooooo seems to be working ok..

Three 2.6's, Three HPDI's and Two OX66's later and never had an issue...

The buzzer won't go off as it does feed water to the powerhead but Yamaha recommends NOT running them on the hose...because it doesn't directly feed the pump. it could very well back feed the pump I guess but it is a risk. Do I need to list all my engines now?? Lol

I did think of that but did not feel like melting my new impeller.
Thanks guys and yes I melted an impeller back in the day on my Johnson 2.6, did not have a good seal while running on the hose. It's amazing how fast they melt!!!
