So I have this really nice looking DAH brass cleaver. I've never seen another one of these that was made of brass. It weighs about twice as much as my Titus prop the same size. I know the nitro lower units aren't the strongest things to start out with. Would I risk tearing up my lower unit with this thing? Will it even perform well being that heavy or should I just mount it on my wall and hit it with some metal polish once and while? I never bothered to test it yet for fear of wrecking something.

I have run a lot of brass props. I got my first stainless prop in 1968 from Mercury for my 1250 BP after I beat their factory boys with a 2 blade brass Mercury prop reworked by John Beer. Most of the inline 6 six Mercury boys ran 14 inch 2 blade elephant ear props on their short shafts. The motors would shake bad enough to crack the 15 inch mids. Taylor, Quinn and I found out that if you thinned the blade, the blade would flex and the boat got on plane easier. We also found that you could run a thinned out 24 or 26 pitch and it would accelerate like a 24 but had the top end of a 26 to 28 pitch. The problem was the props didn't last and John couldn't reweld them. Because I ran more circle races, I used more of them. Dick and Ted switched to stainless once Mercury send some stainless props to Canada. I got all the old props.
So to answer your question. The prop looks thick enough and I would test it. IF? you thin it out the blade will break either at the hub or 1.5 to 2 inches at the end.

thats pretty cool, to bad its not stainless i need one just that size, i have no idea about running it but it looks like the hub is solid? so there is no place for the exhaust to escape

It is through hub exhaust. It also has a rubber hub in it as well. You can only see that from the back side though.

It looks just a little thicker than my titus prop. It's not crazy thick though or anything. It actually looks like it would work well. Like I said, I was just worried about the weight of it. I guess I'll have to see what it does in the spring.

I'll have to test it first and even if I don't like it will still be hard to part with because it looks so good on my own wall haha
