I can just imagine the suspense waiting out at the umbrellas. It would parallel the ending of "armageddon" im sure. Waiting waiting, listening. waiting. "hes not gonna make it..." then BAM the little yellow boat buzzing in from out of nowhere. Then come the tears of joy.. and i will crank "i dont want to miss a thing" -aerosmith

James... Take a look at the map. Even the slightest north or northwest breeze and it's NO FUN!!!!!!! there will be MILES of the run where we see nothing but horizon. It has to be a south / east no existant breeze.
I see what you're saying... It's not really that far at all... It's just that if something does go bad.. It goes really bad. I boat here alot.. And 60% of the time It's too rough for my boat in Owen Sound bay.

But .. It is possible and I WILL do it. :)

The problem is... I'll be calling on a Friday night and telling you it's happening the next morning. You and I both know that there is no planning a date for it. I figure I will be at the outer islands in 41 minutes if all goes well. I basically wanna be running a minimum of 70mph .. With obvious shots above that.. lol. I kinda want a passenger to level the boat on the pad so I don't have to do any counter steering for 40 freaking miles.. Any volunteers?? :o I can't wait to chill with Sr. on the dock.. lol.

It will be a scary endeavor... But Dok is right. If it's calm here.. And I call Dok and its glass there... The forecast calls for less than one half meter... I'll be into the islands in 45 - 50 minutes. I'm sure Dubs that the watson family has the charts. I will have a compass and a handheld, plus I won't do it without a plotter.

A couple degrees out and I'll wonder why two hours later I'm in kilarney.. lol.
Tom.. Check google maps and look at how daunting this run would be.

P.S. Mom hates the idea more than you do jon.

I also would ideally like dave or somebody to meet me at the islands or the umbrellas...

Dude - I don't hate the idea, in fact all along I have been saying that I think it would be cool and it is easily doable.....when the stars align....your luck is terrible. I think you need to add a figurehead on the front of the Triad for good luck, like old tyme sailors!!

You will have to study a chart to find out where the shipping lanes are though because if your electronics failed for whatever reason a straight shot across may not be the marked channel and then you are eff'd.
