The 45's are fully assembled ready to race. On a hydro, 80+ mph. On a tunnel I think they go about 65 mph or slightly better. On a ThunderCat, if it was legal, I bet 70+

once i get confirmation from skunk-works we should be turning 68-7000 on our 50hp tldi available from your friendly neighborhood Aquarius dealer, so you and graham should be able to run around 56-60 from my calculations with a 16 pitch and still have nuts in through the turns, if i stay the same weight i should be running 55 plus, we shall see what happens.

oh ya engine parts will be available throughout Canada and the US at your local tohatsu marine dealer

How much hp do you think they are? the sst45 powerhead is essentially a spec two cylinder 60hp fishing motor, I won't think the sst45 gear case is worth that much. Steve does 70ish with his xclass motor doesn't he and the hp does compare.

steve runs 67mph with 100hp i think to get anything around 70 plus on a course you will need some heavyweights in the front to keep the boat on the water,then you are at the point of adding weight and hp which doesn't make much sense for the boat will loose performance when running ruff water and tight turns as they are intend for. They are designed to be motocross bikes on the water, big air and point to point acceleration.

Steve has alot more hp then what a sst45 can put out. I would think that an sst45 powerhead on a traditional mid and nitro gear case would perform no different then your tohatsu.

The gear case on a 45 compared to a 60 is no comparison... quickie style units give a huge benefit.

The 45 is not far off the 60 on a hard hull tunnel.

Looking at the numbers between ThunderCats and real tunnels with the same motors... there seems to be a speed barrier on the inflatable. I don't know why the SST60's on the ThunderCats are so slow (in the 60's, even the kilo record is only 67)... maybe it's simply an air pressure thing... the forces on the bottom of a hull going very fast would be pretty big and the air likely cant hold the form enough to achieve the great speeds a wood or fiberglass hull can with the same engine.

To add, the stock Merc 60 class of ThunderCat... it's kilo record is about 1/2 mph slower than the sst60/yamaha 70 Thundercat class.

And yes, of course I'm talking speeds on perfect water and condtions, not race courses, and crews that live on celery and not kfc, haha. The thundercat is really a motorcross/supermoto bike and not the sportbike like a hydro or hard tunnel hull designs.

Yeah Jim Whittington said the sst45 and sst60 where close on the tunnels but I didn't realizie they were that close.
