APBA Rules( dated 056/1991): racing jackets to have 'puncture resistant padding',.... 0.06" low or medium density polypropylene, layer immediately under outer cover,... foam backed on inner side. Padding is required on two front panels(L &R), and through the back from collar to tail.

Many have acquired older jackets, which at time of manufacture did not have protectant poly layer.

I have sourced 0.06" polypropylene sheeting, available in 4'x8' sheets. A 2'x4' panel should suffice for most jackets. When in hand, draw out pattern on poly panel to match jacket area, trim edges back as required to insert and for fit. Most jackets have an access zipper inside of 2 front panels. For rear panel, seam at bottom back may need to be opened to insert and sewn up.

Advise who needs 2'x4' panel to make their jacket compliant, and I will order 4x8 sheet.
2013 Inspection: Not compliant, no racing.

2'x4' panels are $25 each, covers material cost and a coffee.

BTW, for any 'non racing' HPB guys going at light speed, consider these inserts to protect ribs/organs, in the event of very sudden stop, toss out.

For those with older puffy floatation jackets filled with newspapers in milk bags, I am sourcing Ensolite foam as replacement. Stay tuned.

Lol, thanks Northbase.... Just a question, I thought the flak resistant material had to be UHMW sheeting, which is another type of poly sheeting they use in tek vests and military flak jackets.
