Possible boats that could run in GT30

Certainly a Critchfield or Delta full size or made smaller.
Mini Voo Doo..you can make a new one provided John/Chris didn't sell the molds
A V bottom Hustler could really surprise. I just don't know about the model. Sure looks cool!

The Jet Stars and all the clones??? not real V bottoms and too slow.
The Checkmate playmate,,,yes
The Mini offshores...I think not.
Winrace...your a winner for sure! There are two in New York State. a red one and a yellow one.
Making your own using the bottom portion of a larger V bottom and added your own custom fiberglass deck...YES
Designing your own V bottom boat in wood and making a composite copy. Yes. BUT YOU CAN"T RUN A WOOD BOAT!

Again you get into this class as a stepping stone to the T750 or T850 classes or maybe you plan on just staying in this class. If your in the class to gain experience then you don't need to spend a lot of money. If this is the class you want to stay in, then go for it. In Europe there are complete families all running in this class. In one case the grandfather, his daughter, the son-in-law and the grandson all run in the class.

So what would be an engine of choice here?

Mark, obviously if you can afford it. The new 30 ETEC or the Tohatsu 30 4 stroke. Other than those two new ones, I really do not know. The 30 hp OMC you got is like the ones they race in APBA, so it has possibilities, Is yours a 2 cylinder or a 3 cylinder? I have both a 30 yamaha and a 30 mariner. I heard the 30 Suzuki is good. DOC likes Elgins and LC likes Chyslers. I will likely run the Mariner because my 30 Yamaha has a nose cone on it and nose cones are not allowed. If you look at the Winrace videos you see a lot of Yamahas, Mariners and Tohatsu in the small horsepower classes. You don't see OMC because they are not common over there. I hope you get the Delta.

This is an older 30hp, probably late 70's. I am told that the 75 hp powerhead will bolt into the midsection. Small gearcase, different ratio than the nitro case. It's sitting at my neighbor's place..haven't had a chance to pick it up yet.

The seller of the Delta and I are "negotiating" right now

Here is an example of one made from the hull of a larger V bottom.

Watch this video again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTdpcZtLL0w

At approximately 30 seconds into the video the camera focus goes under the dash and you see the nose of the boat. Note the light show thru in the nose. That tells you how thin the lay-up of the boat is.

Several people on this site will find the last to posts on this thread interesting and worth watching. Seems we were not the only ones Mark got money from. OG is the owner of Winrace boats and he obviously thought that particular mold was worth going after.

I think were need to have our Italian friends pay Mark a visit to explain the proper way to do business,
