I raced against a couple of these in the late 1960’s. They didn’t like turning the corners on the race course or rough water conditions, but given calm water and a long straightaways they were very fast and the record books show their success.

One of my “Wish For Boats” was the smaller 13 foot version of the 16 shooting star. Only ever saw one in a picture. They did use the deck on a 13 foot V type hull , but that wasn’t the shoot star bottom.
The original designs were all built of wood. Then molds were made of the wood boat.
This is a 14 foot wood one. It would have been a good project to restore, and maybe modify if you had the skill set to do it.
