I really like my Jeff Brown cleaver. I wish our money exchange wasn't so high, I would buy another one to have the slowest one reworked. Mine is a 12.5x22" and at 68 MPH, I'm only turning 6100 RPM with a nitro gearcase. The math don't add up. So I know their is a lot more in it but not willing to mess with this one till I get another one.

The one I bought from Ron hill works pretty good. Im over 70mph with an out of the box 12 1/2" × 24p cleaver. Ive been wanting to get it worked but there is a ton more engine setup to be done first

That is interesting. Most run 23 pitch. Last year some top T750 OMC guys were looking to try 24 pitch. What boat/motor combo is it on and what rpm are you getting.
thanks for the input
Don

This is with our delta/sst 60 combo. The tach isnt great but usually see in around 65-6600rpm. The ron hill 12 1/2" × 24p is ever so slightly slower than a true 12×23 omc cleaver. A banged up omc cleaver got me over 72mph on a few passes vs the ron hill stock at 70-71.5mph consistantly

I did have a different exhaust tuner on for my record runs, and also my port blending was over the allowed 10mm so the motor was not legal. It was an old race block which had been played around with previously, and if anything the port blending made the motor perform worse as it was almost a right angle.
But this year I have a new block, new tuner to standard spec but still billet, everything will be within UIM spec. Apart from of course the cowling and pull start, which are from a 60hp Enduro.
For the record classes this year I may have to run 3up to meet the minimum weight requirements for PF850, so obviously will be slower. But I will do runs 2up as well just to see what she can do.

On another note, there is a substantial amount of power to be gained by running on very cold days, I know Rolf set his record on a cold day in Norway, the engine produces a lot more power. I hope to do some testing in below 0 air temps too

Just to add to my collection I got one of the 4 blade 12 1/2 x 18 Ron Hill props.

WOW!....A fellow T boat guy just informed me that the price of this prop has gone up a lot since I got one earlier this year. NOW $600.00 canadian. Simple case of supply and demand.

It would be interesting to see some current speeds and the boat and motor combinations. We should see some mod 90 Yamaha T boat speeds running over 80 mph and mod 56 oval ports running 80 mph. Tom had the only T boat running a 60 hp mercury 4 stroke ....it ran 64 mph. The Gordon delta should be testing this summer running a 60 4 stroke. There is also a couple of people trying 40 hp 2 cylinder motors. I would expect them to run 45 to 50 mph and be a fun and safe ride for kids 14 and under. Perry had one S750 (S means tunnel), he now runs an SST 45 engine. The other S750 is now switching to 56 omc power so it will be the first time that combination is run. There are still a couple of Mod VP T boats in Ontario but I haven’t heard about their speeds.

I received a message yesterday and I was going to hold off posting the speeds until I got additional speeds for other T guys. When I did some history research it is a record performance.
The Gordon family on 6 mile has many performance boats....including a critchfield, a delta and a 13 foot checkmate. They spend a lot of time testing powerheads and props last summer. They mainly focused on the critchfield. They found speeds in the 70 to 73 mile range until they tested their last powerhead. The powerheads were all 56 Bridgeport. They improved from 73 mph gps reading to 77 mph with that powerhead change. That is impressive!
Now comes the interesting part.....they took that motor and mounted it on their delta. Same motor, same prop......76 mph on gps!! That has to be a record for a delta!!

Well there was a different combo come up for sale on Kijiji Ontario this past week. I haven’t heard of anyone with this combo before. It’s a delta with a 90 hp mercury inline 6 cylinder long shaft! Seller says in runs 60 to 65 mph. Wonder how fast a delta would run with a mercury 1500XS?
