A few years ago when I was trying to get the green motors racing in TORC, I looked at the 60 hp twin cylinder E-TEC to see if it could be mounted on a early model OMC 15 inch midsection so you could take advantage of the nitro 3 cylinder gearcase with the better gear ratio.
The 60 hp is 52 cubic inches, lots of torque and a low 6000 rpm range. I purchased an SST 45 midsection, the nitro case bolts on and I extended the exhaust snout on the SST 45 with a piece from a stock 60 hp midsection. I haven't be able to locate a 60 E-TEC powerhead to see what other changes need to be done. You likely could mount the E-TEC on a fishing motor 15 inch twin and use a pan and cowl from a SST 45 or SST 60. It would add interest in T750 especially for heavier drivers.....maybe better than the Mercury 4 stroke.

My understanding of the 40-60 etec is that the powerhead is the decades old 45 with FI and ECU added. The 40-60 etec are all identical motors with different ECU mapping. They all have the same top end, the difference is acceleration. I owned a 50 and the block looked identical to the 45 to me.

I think the nitro will bolt onto the 60 etec mid as well , it would need something done with the driveshaft spline , I had compared the two side by side at one time as I was interested in this , Never have found one in my price range to try ....

How would that be legal in T-750 if E Tech is 52 cid?

Thom, to refresh.....The E-TEC is a green motor so like the 60 hp 4 stroke Mercury which is 60 cubic inch....BOTH are legal in T750.
Your original 13 foot Allison you purchased from Dave was first to have an out of the box TOP GUN supplied E-TEC . Paul didn't like the transom on the Allison so he loaned Dave an T850 OMC short shaft for that season.
To-day from a cost point the new 4 stroke mercury is out for most people wanting to race. The OMC model is over 30 years old and young people want the newer motors....with used E-TEC 40 to 60 hp parts now becoming available it would make sense to see it you could run an E-TEC on a 15 inch with a nitro. It may be competitive or it could be a stone!

Hi Don,
I thought being a two stroke , it didn't qualify as a green motor. If it isn't a slug, it would certainly help me at a body weight of 228lbs. I desperately need cubic inches.

I think you’d have a limiter problem...limiter is 6250

Same issue as the 60 hp 4 stroke Mercury......in the comparison boat test the E-TEC has more punch, that could be due to the gear ratio..
I think the punch is due to the motor being a 2 cylinder two stroke....overall the E-TEC got a very good rating including good fuel economy. The ECU and the injectors are different on the 40-50-60 models so you need a 60 hp. I think the easiest and least costly way to check the 60 E-TEC out would be to use a long shaft two cylinder OMC lower unit, do what needs to be done to he drive shaft and the spline so the unit fits on the 60 E-TEC. Your only interested how it runs in a straight line at this point so the fact it would be high on the transom is OK...IF the motor can turn a 24 or 25 pitch prop at 6000 rpm....with punch! It's not a slug!

I hit the rev limiter when I tried underpropping it ie. below 17” pitch. My outfit with me in it weighed 900lbs. It’s happy place was with a 19 and 21” prop, running 5800-6100 rpm. Outfit really moved along for a utility. Now BRP has discontinued the production and sale of Evinrude motors, that happened back in May I believe. I heard Mercury was going to pickup parts support. Don’t know how true the parts supports part is, I don’t see that happening. Would playing with the ETEC still be worth it at this point?
