When the Canadian Edition VooDoo was introduced to the public in 1987...Jim Tucker promoted the boat along with his Ski Pole business.
Jim got into the Ski Pole business while he was a dish washer service tech. There are many of us who have owned Voodoo's either the Mini or the full sized version....A GREAT BOAT!

WHAT IS YOUR HISTORY WITH A VOODOO?

Many people just could not master the slight hand movement it took to keep the boat stable and up on the pad.
Most boats were lake runners with long shaft motors...more difficult to drive compared to a short shaft nitro and foot throttle.
I like this video because it shows a hand control boat with a long shaft 49 OMC....

4 voodoos
-1st in 1987 (150 lbs): raced once in Quebec, broke it after race in front of Jim's place
-2nd in 1987 (165 lbs): raced for rest of 1987, broke and sank in Detroit river
-3rd in 1988 (180 lbs): raced in 1988 and 1989, sold to Graham "somebody". Wish I knew if it was still out there. Big difference with handling due to the raised pad
-4th in 2017 (250 lbs): fun boat for Michigan inland lakes.

I bought my first one in 1989 and ran it with a Suzuki 55/65 until 1994 when I bought the DL. I worked my ass off to get that boat and Tucker was a business associate of my dad so I got it for next to nothing. I was 14 and taught myself how to drive it with some pointers from my dad who wouldn't get in the boat lol. I have 1000 stories involving that boat. My dad never wanted me to go too crazy so I remember having to raise the motor in the driveway after school before he got home from work. I learned a lot from owning that boat.

The guy I sold it too ran it over an island and dumped all 4 of them in the lake. Insurance fixed it but then a year or so later it sank at their dock and spent a week on the rock bottom grinding it into pulp.

The second is my current race boat...I bought the voodoo because of the first one I had and I figured Henry might like it in the event I'm not using it. He may have to get his own damn boat lol

Mark Rotharmel once tested a voodoo on PBTV and said "if you can drive one you can drive anything"....that went right to my teenage head.....and never left lol.

Not sure when exactly it all started but I always loved the lines of the Hydrostream V-King/Vision. Must have been interested in Voodoos for a while because I keep finding old saved screenshots of Kijiji ads buried in old folders on my computer. Also found an old classified Voodoo ad clipping in my childhood workshop space at my parents' house. I do remember browsing this site a handful of years ago looking at the T-boats for sale section but never got serious until I randomly ran in to who turned out to be Hydroid while he was rigging his Voodoo at our marina getting ready for a run on GB. He said I should attend some races to see what it was all about.. I did.

Wanted to maybe try racing, and knew that there was a preferred competitive boat, but my heart was set and that classic Hydrostream style. In 2016 I decided to ditch a planned rebuild of second Thundercraft v142 (what I use for commuting on GB) to make space for this more fun Voodoo. That turned out to be a good plan. It has been a tonne of fun.

Steve you sold it to Graham Lyons....I remember that boat well and his older brother used to push him to drive harder and harder! He ended up selling it but I can't remember where it went.

The VooDoo above with the Nissan wound up with me for a few years. Interestingly it had a nosecone when I bought it. I raised the engine and learned to drive it. If you can drive a VooDoo it does not mean you can drive an Allison - different story.

My intention was to have the VooDoo at home in Windsor so I could boat here. Never happened. It was mostly used for Trent boat trips and overflow people when one boat is not enough. I stuffed it slowly into cruiser wakes in the Trent no wake zones a few times. It road the marine railway at big chute by itself. But I did enough bombing around solo.

That Mini with a 35 merc was my Brothers first and only boat. he only had it for a couple years then sold it. ohh the memories

Thanks for the update. I sure would like to track down that boat, hopefully still in one piece. Anyone have contact info for Graham Lyons?
