We came on Saturday to watch all the races and it was Awesome! Whole family had a great time. Curious as to what kind of speed the Formula boats are reaching at the finish line.

Same here, i was wondering the exact same thing. How fast were the formula boats? I may have a boat for the formula class next season depending on what the speeds are. I dont think my 150hp super mag would cut it running against 225hp pro max's lol

Never know till you try! Sounds like a lot of people were there that I didn't get to meet (besides the regulars).

Best recorded speed was 85.2 on the rev limiter ( 7k) with 24 pitch and 1.75 gear. Best placing was probably 5th on the weekend.

That being said I don't think the top speed is the name of the game as I doubt Greg and Rico had that much speed at the end of the track but they just got there quicker. I would say most of the formula boats out there were probably in the 75-78mph range at 800'

Bingo!!
I have neither a speedo or GPS in the boat.....seat of the pants feel....I'd say, in my case I'm likely doing mid to hi 70's.....maybe.
It's all about hole shot, setup and reaction time.
Top speed means very little, if anything.

OK so when I heard that bup-bup-bup-bup at about 3/4 track, it was just me crapping my pants as the other boats passed me ;)

Pay attention to the slo mo video, watch the interruptions in my prop wash as I hit the limiter, near the top end. You won't be able to hear it much cause my motor is quiet compared to the 2.4 HORN motor that was racing me ;)
