There's a guy where I work that is rebuilding an STV. Sound like he was doing a good job until he told me he didn't splurge on the material, he used pressure treated wood on everything. I told him that it was a big no no. He got a little upset with my comment and said it will be fine. He is to far into the project now to start ripping it out.
My question is, how long before its start delaminating?

Resin doesn't stick to PT...so who knows. Could be today...could be tomorrow.

I got a Glaspar G3 years ago which had been restored with fiberglassed pressure treated wood. The fiberglass had adhered to the wood and it was done in 2 layers. The first layer had brass screws in it and the second layer was over top. The transom was glassed plywood. The interesting part was the pressure treated had rotted out much more than the regular wood. They use the soft cheaper wood for pressure treated so that would be the reason since the chemical only protects the treated areas.

What is actually even more frightening is if he "didn't splurge on the materials" for the wood structure, just what kind of shit glass and resin did he buy .....? And considering his obvious lack of knowledge, what kind of prep work did he do, and how did he layup the glass ? Can you get some pictures ?

The net is where he got all his info on how to fix it. He really thought he was splurging when he bought the treated wood. Not the first to do that.
I doubt you will see any pics of it, he's avoiding me like the plague since I gave him the bad news
