He's already serious Jon..

I think the idea for the swap came from drag racers who wanted more timing for a short period of time and have the ability to control max timing. On a lake motor it's pretty tough to beat the computer and knock sensor....which will save your ass if you get a tank of sketchy fuel.

Ya Dok had said the computer ignition starts pulling timing at 6k. My engine pulls hard to 6300-6400 then just kinda stops pulling. Figured it was worth a try to get more rpm with the basic system.

IMO pulling timing isn't terrible up top. Mine would pull strong to 6700 with a 28 but was faster with a 32 at 6100...but also a completely stock motor.

I would see a 200 rpm difference with mid grade vs premium.

Is there any acceleration to be had by advancing the timing? Or do you just get speed holes in the piston? I set it to 22 degrees. Running 94 chevron.

Out of curiosity what prop are you running? Also even more curiosity after you switched out the computer did it take much playing around to get it going?

Im running 24 yamaha drag copy.
The nice thing was the wiring mostly matched up. The flywheel off the 150 didnt seem quite right, didnt go far enough down the taper so i used my 225 flywheel along with the magneto out of a 200. The 150 flywheel had an extra magnet in the middle, the 200 magneto was magnetic. Imagine that. The prime start was the other thing. For testing i just pulled the cowl off and used the manual red lever for cold starts. Now ive wired the prime start solenoids into the blue choke wire and use the choke toggle below the key. And the throttle linkage. Alot more messing around than i thought when i started it.

Does the 150 pro V have prime start? My 200 has the choke solenoid where the 225 is prime start. My prime start is working sweet since a quick clean of the carbs post oil injection fix. Last night was turn the key and go - no pinning the throttle to the mat.

The 150 was the same as the 200 in your picture with a choke solenoid. Ya the prime start is a pretty nice set up. I had The diaphragm dry out and crack in mine with the original engine. Took a while to figure out why it was running so rich.
