Thanks Dean, I'm looking forward to it.

As for rules, I have been looking at APBA rules and different classes as far as weights. Most class weights vary according to horsepower.

Example from APBA Drag rules
4) WEIGHTS:
150 HP.....1600 lbs. 250 HP ... 1850 lbs.
175 HP.....1650 lbs. 275 HP ... 1900 lbs.
200 HP.....1700 lbs. 300 HP ... 2000 lbs.
225 HP.....1750 lbs.
a) Add 25 pounds to all the following Mercury/Mariner Performance Products Motors: ProMax 150, 200, 225, 225x and 300x; plus 245,
260, 280 and 300 Drag motors.

I think this could level the playing field and would entice more people to come out regardless of what motor they have to run. I'm thinking 225hp @1550, 200 @1500, 175 @1450, 2.4 or 2.5 150 @1400 and 2.0l 150 @1350?

Yeah, so what if I am working on a 2.0L 150 for my Vector... :mrgreen:

Looking at previous drag posts, I realize this has been brought up before regarding Mike's Little Allison with a 2.0L etc. :oops:
Although, nothing has really been done about it either :?: I feel like Formula Class could really grow with a bit more structure like this. I also acknowledge that there are other issues to iron out too... Thoughts?

One issue was: gravenhurst was the weigh in race to calculate levelling boats - what if someone that didn't race showed up to Halliburton with an unknown stv with a 225 promax? No way of weighing and/or time and space todo so...

As Jeff said before - the more this class grows the tighter the rules and enforcement will become.

The general concences seem to be everyone is open minded towards making adjustments to level the field. Power to weigh ratios are the way of doing it. Driver, prop and hull design are what will separate each racer.

I think this is a good plan moving forward. Yes, power to weight is the way to go. There are only two races per year, so I think anyone wishing to race for points should be weighed? If newcomers show up in Haliburton, let them run after the weighed boats have competed? If a new guy dominates, let him race the points winner? Its not easy to find a compromise I know, but if a new guy shows up with a light high powered rig, it isn't fair to those that are legal and have prepared to run. Either way, I'll give it a try. I always love watching this class race. Its very cool to see so many boats from my childhood show up to race.

Hey Folks - since I'm basically overhauling my boat this winter, I've been toying with the idea lately of center steer with a full rear bench/motor ferring. I'm looking to save unwanted weight and lower the seats to make the boat safer and run even by having two ppl inline rather than side by side. I can't chop the floor to lower the seats because of the seating surface area, but can if only one seat was up front. I use the boat primarily for lake use and my thinking this is my best option given the hull design. However I am also racing formula. It will still have its full interior and make the weight for the class. I spoke to Jeff about it and since there are other ppl running center steer that he was ok with it. What are your thoughts? I don't want to show up to a race with a bunch of guys pissed off. So it's better to bring it up now than surprise everyone at gravenhurst. The boat and motor will be in formula spec.
