My Dad sold Chargers back in the 80's. I remember when these boats came out. The tunnel didn't work as well as the vee with 200 hp, but Ted from speed master had a BP on one that went in the high 80's. My Dad met Roark a couple of times. Mike Canzano(sp) brought him around like he was the queen of England Lol! Anyways, both boats were limited by a standard production boat layup. Roark said the deck was designed with some Ferrari influence? I always enjoyed watching my Dads employee run his SV on our lake. It was good for low 70's on the speedometer and looked awesome doing it! He had Panther ski mates before that. They were similar in weight and would run high 60's. Those were some good times for sure.

I do like the 380 deck better than either the SV or SRV. When my brother bought his DL, the Charger guys told him that the SV would need a jackplate to be as fast with a 200 as the DL with the 200 on the transom.

I think I would treat Roark as royalty if I ever met him.

I've always liked the 380 for the room...but the SRV is obviously special to me lol. Its funny how different the SV is than the SRV...given my SRV had 10mph on my DL with the same motor lol. I guarantee the SV would be first across cooch or Simcoe days before the DL though...

Your SRV is a special boat though; a high end cocktail of light and strong sized perfectly for big power making it very fast :)

It seems the old chargers aren't as all out fast as their contemporaries. Even the DL has a critical hull speed I think as compared to say a V-king. Maybe the sample size is too small as nobody has really tried in recent years that I know of to make a DL go very fast but I would be very surprised if it would get much past 90.

I really like that 380 deck. Was that right from Roark or Charger?

The 380 is a Laser...which is summerford. There was never a charger version.

I don't know what the hull speed of a DL is but I'd bet if someone tried it would go. It punches a bigger hole and doesn't have the same lift designed into the hull as a vking...but...I know the race boats would run in the 90's...and turn. If I still had mine....lol.

Those DLs that races were stripped down light boats though.

Yes, yes, yes. We will make it go someday. Just need to get a Cone on my new lower, add the setback, get LC's ET, grab beer and hotdogs (likely potato chips too) and head to maple lake err I mean MRS proving grounds :D :D 8-) :mrgreen:

I hope one day to drop more power onto my sv and see how fast it will go. Like maybe a dbr 15" 300?? Ahem... :lol: we know what an srv will do with one!! Would make a good comparison.

Seriously tho, i hope to break 100 with it one day with a 2.5 of some kind but well see. For now, If i can pass 90 with my bp this season ill be happy. Need to play with props, ive only ran a 28 chopper.

My SS2000 is much better on a windy day on Cooch than my brother's DL. But I've read the SRV is better than the Ally. It's bigger, so it should be better.

Even with two boats, I need to seat 4 people per boat. And my friends and family don't fit two in the rear of an SRV.

While I'm dreaming of the perfect cottage boat, how much setback does an SRV/SV need? I built my garage around my SS2000, so length could be a problem. I don't think I made the garage big enough for a Tuff with 18" of setback.

I run 8"....could do with less probably..ive got more bow lift than I need..but I'm used to it.

Get smaller friends :)
