Well a few of you know about this already....
Now officially in my ownership!
This IS the promo boat hull from the advertising photos taken when I was in public school!
A thorough survey and very very close inspection of all the balsa core prone problems and areas proved that this hull is completely sound with no delamination, soft/dull spots. There is NO structural restoration to be done, primarily refreshment work probably the biggest of which is to replace the carpet, and there is a lot of it tucked in around/on everything in the hull!
It presently has the Yamaha's on it, but I am trying to move them ASAP and go a single modern engine - the whole point if this design was to be single outboard!
Not in a great rush, but will post updates as things progress.

I'd keep twins. There were a very few original twins.

I am torn between the history of the boat, however it is my personal opinion that single outboard on this hull is what makes them truly unique as they are.
Back in 78', or 91' for that matter the HP in a single just was not where it is now. My IDEAL power is a 250 SHO. I prefer 4 stroke, with vvt, for good low end and without the complications of DFI.

I'd run the twins for the time being......at least until you find a big single.
They run great with a single, kinda tail heavy with twins.
I know of a light layup early 80's Canadian built Challenger that ran hi 70's with a 2.4 EFI. I'm pretty sure RBT's ran mid to high 90's with a 300 Promax.
Talk to DoubleShivers, he still has twins on his and knows most, if not all of the Canadian built twins.
Run it as is.....
It'll be a real head turner!!

.....just make sure you put the rite prop on the rite motor!!
Watched a total D bag mix up his props once. The results were hilarious!!

Until last summer when it was brought down to Wasaga to a marina to sell, it had not been run probably since 2001.
I Had seen it a few times on the rack at Gordon Bay Marine, and others here also have seen it sitting up there.

Took the props off as they are easy to dissappear!
Have to fix a trim tab actuator primarily before I can do anything.
Next week I will probably run it on the muffs.

Have to pull out and replace all the carpet - and theres alot of it.

Main goal right now is to sell the motors and prepare for my single rig with setback.

Yes the temptation to play as is, is strong but holding out for now L Ont is pretty damn cold!

Ah the one at Gordon Bay Marine. I was aware of it too - I didn't know that it was for sale. Nice to see that it will be on the water again :)
