Quick question on motor height on the challeners. There a 25" transom and the merc 200 ive got has the spacer on it for the 25" transom. I was reading some of the challenger brochers that are on here and it was saying its that way to reduce gear case drag. Ive got a manual jack plate with 8" of set back, will probly run a 4" spacer to get 12" of set back. So my question is should i get a shorter mid for the motor to get the prop up or just mount the long shaft engine up high?

I'm sure James will chime in soon here, if you do not have a low water pickup/ coned lower unit, I would start with the propshaft centreline between 2" and 1.5" below the bottom edge of the hull.

Ive got a stock lower unit with a bobs low water pick up. Ive also got a quicksilver 24p chopper that came with my side winder, might give it a go on the challenger since the motor is at pretty much stock height on the sidewinder.
