I recently used the JB Weld Stick, a putty like epoxy to shape an outer gear case cover.
It adhered very well. After smoothing I applied the thinner JB as a top coat, very little sanding required.
Home Depot has a good selection of the various types.

They were about the same price for the 2oz sizes, the advantage PC7 seems to have is they claim its no sag or drip where JB will sag.
