No chance. Promaxes dyno in the 240 range, you can find tons of stuff showing that. Promaxes are strong... And I am a Yamaha convert.

what hull is faster ?

if the 225 yami is 225HP and the promax is 240hp and they went the same speedish then wouldnt the SRV's be faster?

just thinking out loud here ... :o

Tom that looks outstanding! I have a couple of cowls and the one is minty (for my new 225 ironically) so I am doing minimal with it. My old turd though I could spruce up. Who did your decals?

I agree... Nice work Tom.

And back on topic....

Rick... You never ran full out with me when you had the 2.6. You were dead even with me with the 3.1 motor that is now pushing a fat challenger to respectable speeds. You ran 92 with the 2.6... with a big 32 cleaver. I ran 95.5 with the promax and a 32 cleaver. Ken Larue and Mikey are/were really fast with 3.0l mercs on SRV's... The Jury is still out on mine with similar Yamaha power...(Yamaha gearcases are sucky). I honestly think that with comparable power the hulls are almost identical speed wise. I love them both and Richard you are my bestie ;) hahaha. But according to the original post those excells ARE race motors.

I will add though... That with a 300xs and sporty a dude in the south got 113mph with a triad. Chummy ran 117mph with his nos 280. and casey gudgell ran 110mph+ with a merc drag. Nobody is close to this with an SRV.(obviously there are alot more V-21's)

That is true Mitch...but the 2.6 was faster than the 3.1 (I don't know if it was as quick though)...it ran 93 with the 2.6...

Your yamaha gearcase is sucky lol...don't paint them all with the same brush...that bob's 2.6 case ran REALLY well on my 225. It'll come around for you...don't worry. Dok SR. will get you fixed up lol.

The SRV is a slower boat..no question....but our 225s were pretty darn close...

I've heard from a couple of different people that the original 225 promaxes are just 225 horsepower. However the 225x (newer models) is 240hp stock and has a slightly higher rev limiter than the 225 promax.

promax was kept at 6800 to keep the oil injection I was told. Alot of builders say to ditch it anyway, not sure on that. Yamaha sea trials back in the late eighties reported 89 mph on radar with an excell on a ae-21 , not sure of prop.
