Looking good atleast you got the grinding part over with, now the fun part, i think i had saw a 13 foot allison with the core materials like the stuff you removed, it also had balsa under the deck, you may want to look for that and see if its still good

Its all been removed. The Balsa continued for about 3 feet under the deck. I just kept working my way from the transom forward until there was no core left. I wanted to make sure I got it all out though, there were even wet spots in the balsa that far up.

Looking good! Are you making a bulkhead? Stringers? putting core back in? Wood or composite?
I would love to take on a project like this someday... The 2L is going to be awesome!!

And ya, a bulkhead will be going in, it will be full balsa this time not plywood core. Stringers will be going in as well with knees tied into the transom for strength. Its definitely a learning experience though. Its funny, you set down timelines for when you want to have everything finished and I'm quickly learning that everything always takes longer than you expect.

Still most likely going with the 2.0L. I think it'll be the best fit for the boat. Theres lots that can be done to it.

I wouldn't be pulling the balsa out of the deck...it is unlikely wet and even less likely to delaminate and kill you lol.

I agree...1/4" plate steel should be good and strong to handle the rough water.

I'm all confused :? ...did tunnelv mean balsa on the deck? Or on the hull from the dash forward to the bow - and therefore "under the deck". If he meant the latter then ya I took that all out. If he actually meant on the deck then no I didn't take any of that out because there isn't any balsa on the deck.

yes i meant on the deck..but thats good there is none there..i had saw a old 13 footer that had balsa on the deck it was rotten.probably rare to happen maybe it sat full of water. could have been just as rare to have balsa on the deck
