You running the toaster this year Don?

Yes Sir, Alex should have it ready. Ceramic pistons, ceramic sleeves and no rings. It can even run without a water pump. 62 should be easy beat.

Will it run on pump fuel with no water pump or too much combustion chamber heat?

Interesting tidbit... our 15hp... run hotter with the water pump. You only need the pump for idling (but pickup is in front of gearcase). In mod you remove the pump alltogether to help free up some hp.

In this case the ceramic doesn't absorb as much heat like a traditional piston and reflects the heat back into the combustion chamber thus higher temps and potential for detonation, that was my understanding.

I thought I would put than post out before one of the T850 racers did.
Our Toaster is pure stock. Has not even been rebuilt. Dave Scott has the one that is being blue printed. It will be interesting to see if? there is any difference. Dave thinks there will be because the casting are terrible and the sleeves worse.

The ceramic pistons and ceramic sleeves are not just a coating. They are the complete part. When you use both parts there is no change in their sizes due to heat. The chamber temp is 1200 to 1400 degrees. You can fit the piston with zero gap and you do not need rings. I was told to not worry about fuel. Old gas works best and gives a bigger bang, For the porting you can use an SST 60 sleeve and take the bridge out. That gives you even more performance than the oval port.
The cost is approximately $1132.17 US per hole. The one problem is fitting the sleeve without having it break.
Add a Gig billet head, flywheel and Curtis crank and your done.

:) Was this a kilo record set in Europe, or some local speed run with high pitch prop?

FrenchPhil, do you know any of the details as to the make of boat etc.
This is a very large increase over the previous record.
Were any other records set at the same time trial?
