There is nothing 80's about this

But there is everything 80's about this:

Get off the glue "record breaker" HA!!!

And...I hate to sound like Yammer but lets try to keep this thread about an actual boat...this will be an awesome project that I actually want to see..

That's not eighties, just some left over seventies! 1979 to be exact lol.

I recall Frank at Captain Johns Marine ran a 200 Mercury on a 15 foot Checkmate. It lasted a few years. Jeff Baker in the USA had a 15 inch 2.5 Mercury on a 13 foot Rapid Craft. It was on display at their shop. I don't know if they ever put it in the water. I always liked the 15 Allison with a Mercury Twister on them. There were several pictures on that combo on the US performance boat sites.

I love the line in the add for the SST120 that says with a simple change of the powerhead and exhaust tuner you are good to go for other classes. No doubt you are good to go, there is much left of the original motor! It does look cool though and would look awesome on the back of the Alli.

RE: Youtube Checkmate video...
I know the boat well, it's sitting in my driveway, a 1975 MX15 factory pad boat.
The video was taken his first time out with a 15" 260.
I spoke at length with the driver/owner who reported it was a handful until he installed Mobster Tabs.
The improvement was dramatic, he could nail it without significant trimming.
And oh ya, it ran 97 in the quarter mile.

I thought I saw a picture somewhere with it In the background with no motor recently. is the bottom the same as the stock mx15 bottom? If it is that's insane for a 15 checky, but I've heard of one running 80-85 with a 150 xr4 or 6. Not sure if these are realistic numbers but it flyin for a 15' boat hahah.

Can't say for sure if the bottom is the same as a stock MX15 (been 40 years). Weren't they rounded?
The pad (such as it is) is only 4" wide, talk about a balance beam thus the need for tabs.
I have no plans to knock on the 100 mph door, that'd be insane.
Will do a 15" mid, have a 2.0 and 2.5 power head and a selection of lowers so possibilities are endless.
