hey charlie i would like to see a pic of your lower unit .. and what gear ratio are you running in that big yammie . sommething does not match ?

so what is your prop pitch , gear ratio . rpm . and mph . v8... and remember cold weather and hot weather will have a factor on mph.

raising the motor up by i" increments is to much start over again and raise by 1/4" at a time and mark your jackplate so you know when you are dialed in to you best top end speed

Prop Solas scorpion 28 p.... 5400 on the yamaha tach Gear Ratio 1.75......80mph....

Keep in mind that lower doesn't have a true LWP so you may not be able to get that big case high enough to make it truely fast...but V8 has given you good advice...an 1" at a time is alot. You are running like 2%slip sooo...something is off or you're really hooked up lol.
