It must have been the wording....we rarely go off half cocked  . What is clear is that passion runs hot in the old T class....can't wait for Dunnville lol.

New motors are continually changing.

EXAMPLE:
This company currently has a 30 hp electric outboard and are developing a 50 hp.

Maybe a simpler solution is bracket type racing... buy 12 $100 GPS's, stick them in boats for the races... 50-55 mph class, 55-60 mph class, 60-65 mph class (or whatever 3 levels deemed needed). You break the top speed you are DQ that heat. Next race move up a class or slow your boat down. Who cares what they have on the back or what mods are done, never need to inspect anything.

I'm sure there are lots of ideas to reduce the number of classes and keep it simple but competitive.

This is a good idea Andrew! Call the classes VPR-55 VPR-60 and VPR-70? Keep it simple! 8-)

Whatever is decided, I will be there the same. I really just want to put away my computer and go boating!! :P

For those who were in at the beqinning 5 or 6 years ago. The GPS idea was used. It upset several people that we basically had run what you brung class and didn't have any structure. We needed to find out what boats were out there and compare the different combinations in order to develope a structured class. The Fair Competition Rule does exactly as Andrew states. We slot the boat in the class where it is most competitive. The current rules are simple and we have limited tech inspection.

We have not yet done our NASCAR style start. 12 boats in a heat, 2 boats side by side, fastest boats at the back, 10 laps.

I love it, slow Newbies in front shi**ing their pants they will get run over, 'fastest' 78mph 4km lake braggards in back getting lapped wondering 'WTF happened?', and quickest in middle to negotiate the field.
Change it to 4rows of 3 across.
I'm in!

I have always liked the idea. Even some T boat races are boring for the fans and racers as well. This puts 10 times the action in the race with all the passing and it allows racers to try dfferent tactics depending on their equipment and their start position in the field. Some will try the buddy system to hold the quicker guys back by blocking lanes. Heck I bet we can even have a few fights in the pits just like them good old boys down south.

Team Yamaha would have to be the front row. IF we did 3 across DOC, JIM and MIKE. With no Scooter racing this year blocking should not be a problem.

Haha, this sounds pretty interesting. Has anyone ever tried this in boat racing? I always wondered what it would be like to have a pace boat NASCAR style start. I like the Lemans start. The clock start really isn't that appealing to me but maybe once I get some experience with it, I may think differently about it.
