THE FASTEST RECORDED GPS LAKE SPEED T850
Mike Hooper's VOODOO 74 mph

THE FASTEST ON THE OVAL GPS T850
Ryley Dutton Critchfield 69 mph.
TOP GUN has not confirmed, but based on 2012 races is in the 72 mph range at Gravenhurst

THE SLOWEST ON THE OVAL GPS T850
Dave Whittington Critchfield 61.3 mph.
He won a heat that day.

THE AVERAGE SPEED ON THE OVAL OF T850 ENTRIES GPS
63.5 to 67.5 mph
Depending on the start anyone can win and they have.

THE FASTEST AVERAGE LAP SPEED LAP ON THE OVAL
We do not have measured courses and this is an educated guess.
Gravenhurst is the quickest oval: Best water conditions
Paul and Todd appear to be averaging in the 63 to 64 mph range.
Their advantage is a little more top end and cornering speed!
Dunnville is rougher water.
Paul and Todd appear to be averaging in the 60 mph range.
The water conditions neutralize any speed advantage after 2 laps.
I don't think anyone is over 68 mph on the straights even on lap 1.

If you do have speeds you are willing to share, please post.
I will add them to the list.

Best GPS readings recorded by T850
Jim Whittington Yamaha Critchfield 67.7 mph
Doc Yamaha VooDoo 66 mph
Dave Whittington OMC Critchfield 73.6 mph
Scott Whittington OMC Baker 71.2 mph
Erik cobbled OMC VooDoo 63 mph

SOME INTERESTING FACTS:

Jim and Doc are their speeds in race trim not lake trim.
Dave W. speed is in lake trim with a pure SST60 motor. That motor did not race in T.
Dave's best legal T motor in race trim ran 69 mph.
Scott W. speed is also in lake trim. He never won a heat with that motor. He switched
to an OMC fishing motor that ran 67.1 mph in race trim and was very competitive in races.

There are several fresh powerheads in the group built according to the new rules. These could have had initial tests last weekend. In some cases racers built 2 motors. A basic stock one and a wilder one. The results will be very interesting. Same boat, same set-up, same prop. There likely is a large difference in the lake runs. The true test will be on the oval where it is all about being QUICK and not just top end. Hope you guys post some results.

when setting up a test coarse, what is the recommended width and depth of the turn buoy anchor points?

not much there,in regards to T coarse layout!
Does anybody know what the coarse width is for Gravenhurst? do any of the other courses have a big difference in width?

Courses are designed to suit the water:
Waterford: tri-oval with 2 sharp corners with dogleg as third.
GH, EV, DV: ample room, my guess, corners have approx 200'+/- radius.
That help?...if you're practicing turns, best set up cones Sunday night at Walmart, wife pull you/boat on trailer, keep communication clear with walkie talkies, remeber to lean into turns, hand signals a must, have her stomp on it down straights, you gotta be fish tailin in turns to feel it!
