This came in from Garry Moore, Windsor area TORC racer, who asked me to post it here. I believe it was Garry and Steve Heuninck who did all the leg and display work on this one. Andrew

On April 5 -7, 2013 20/20 Show Productions held the Windsor Home & Garden Show, Windsor Boat & Power Sports Show and the Windsor RV & Recreation Show. The three shows in one weekend format was the largest show of it's kind in Windsor's history. There was 160,000 square feet of exhibition space with over 300 companies participating. Over the duration of the weekend there were 18,000 persons in paid attendance.

The Canadian Boating Federation (CBF), which was represented by the Toronto Outboard Racing Club (TORC), joined with the American Power Boat Association (APBA), which was represented by Thundercat Racing (SLT) and the Michigan Hydroplane racing Association (MHRA), were able to secure a 40' x 20' booth in order to display outboard racing boats. The booth was manned by experienced and novice racers who were able to answer questions and direct individuals to additional sources of information. The information made available contained racing schedules, sources to purchase, websites and contact names. There was a television with prepared DVD's playing some recent racing events.

The boats and motors on display were: SLT Thundercat, T850, 'C' stock runabout and a 'C' stock hydroplane along with a refurbished vintage 20H outboard. The SLT Thundercat was complimented with two mannequins fully outfitted with safety apparel. A canopy was set up so as to look like a typical pit area. With the TORC, APBA, Thundercat and MHRA banners displayed on the booth dividers, the area was quite brilliant and attracted many curious passer-by's. Many individuals were able to relate to previous experiences racing boats. Overall, it was observed that there is more than idle interest in the sport and it is anticipated that many who observed the booth will utilise the additional information they received in order to get involved.

The organisers wish to thank Andrew Fralick, Elek Hutchinson and Eric Luksep for their guidance and support.

Good work! It takes a tonne of work to put together and staff a booth and we all appreciate the effort (as volunteers) that went into this to further the club and racing in general.
