Here's an interesting cross section of hulls, motors and racers having fun.
Bit of everything including AU Derby Dingy style racers
Houndog, can you name all the hulls?

Tom, the race is likely 1959 or 1960. It is prior to the introduction of OPC [Outboard Pleasure Craft] racing and the appearance of the V hull. There is a good mix of hulls and the even some of the first thru the prop exhaust Mercurys. The Utility hulls that look homemade were mostly built by raceboat builders like SPEEDLINER.

The molded plywood hulls appeared in the mid 1950's. They were the first competitive pleasure craft hulls to race with the custom raceboats. They were very strong and light. Many of the molded plywood hulls were made in Nova Scotia and sold as blanks. Boat builders including Peterborough added the deck and seats.

The other fiberglass boats are commercial hulls.

The white and yellow fiberglass boat withe the skier is a Glasspar G3 centre deck 1959 or 1960 model.

Thanks Houndog, figured you could shed some light on the subject and then some. Thanks for the links.
Pre OPC regulations likely explains why it looked like they were having so much fun, just a bunch of people putting on an informal show.
