I had an immediate interest in the 1250BP as soon as it was announced . I was racing a 125 hp short shaft and the BP was the new legal FJ motor since it had a shiftable gearcase.
I purchased one as soon as I could. I loved the way the motor performed. I did everything better compared to my 1250 short shaft.
Plus it looked racy in appearance and sounded even racier . I liked the way the water dumped out of the big exhaust exit.

Then later they added the exhaust stack option. Most of the ones with stacks had speedmaster gearcases and not the BP shiftable gearcase
