I got several e-mails asking about this post on another thread. Well, that is not the latest trick. There was a sale in Dec. for that small booster ion start battery $39.99 canadian. You can mount 2 of them under the cowl and have 24 volt starting and up trim, and run 12 volt ignition. I bet LC has already been testing these small ion batteries. For T850 guys....it is a big advantage having 24 volt start for a dock or beach start! Matt informed me that he was all ready running a single lithium ion booster battery on his T750 Yamaha. Dave informed me that the cheaper models are no good. I have never tried one of these: QUESTIONS: - which model would you use? - would they be safe when hooked up in series to get 24 volt? Thanks Don New product is this 24 volt booster.....Maybe go with 2 separate battery systems.....one 24...one 12 https://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/ ... 075Q17PQ37 |

Don't these batteries require a special charger?? I know LiPo batteries do and I thought the LiIon were similar. |

My concern was the charging coil in the outboard. Disconnect it and there would not be that problem. But with the power trim always draining the battery[s] and the possibility of heat build up in the batteries that too was a concern. |

The five minute solution. Remove the cable that goes from the starter solenoid to the starter. Replace it with your small booster battery. Now when you turn the key you have 24 volt to the starter. That is the only time the booster is used. Just replace the booster with the original cable and you are back to 12 volt. |
