Item 17 in Safety section of OPBRA rules states...
17. Radio communication from boat to shore will be required for all racers, all classes.

Is radio communication intended for crew/driver or officials/driver communication?

Does cell phone count as radio?

Knowing intended purpose would help.

Thanks
Tom

Intention is for driver to crew.
Race officials will be on land and on the start boat with their own radios.
If there is a need to communicate something to all drivers, land officials will inform the crew members.

Ideally, two way radios work best as you could set a channel for each heat/class/event for group comm.'s.

Good to see the rules being read!!

So a simple pair of GMRS radios like Motorola T-100 will likely be most commonly used.
22 channels, 5 km range over water, affordable.

You got it Tom.
Simple, easy, inexpensive and effective.
They can also be shared between classes of boats that are not on the water at the same time!!

8.Foot throttles with spring return and trim buttons on wheel or floor required.

Are blinker style trim switches allowed?

Hey Rob. Yes, turn signal style are permitted provided they spring to neutral position on tech inspection and are operable without letting go of the wheel.

Dean/Paul, please chime in if I missed anything.

Got your OPBRA and CBF memberships yet Rob?
