Had a chance in the late 1980's to buy one in the states....just missed out by a few hours...it was sold Not many people knew of the 12 footer......the larger models are still popular. I even tried to locate the molds.....no success https://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Lazer-/30 ... 7675.l2557 |

I like it, Don. Any other lesser-known hulls in T-boat size? And how do they compare? What else was used for racing besides the Allison, Delta, Voodoo, Critch? I'm aware of Tom's Rapid Craft.. (Cyclone?) |

Matt, you have listed the current boats.....In VP75 you do see other makes and models because of their 900 lb. minimum weight. In 2019 VP75 did make a spec rule change......they are now allowed to modify the powerhead. VP 75 TECHNICAL STANDARDS Total Cu. In. Displacement Min. Boat Length Min. Wt.-Boat, Engine, Driver 45 to 49.9 cu. in. 13’ 900 lbs. 1) Boats must be molded V-bottoms. 2) Capsule and roll cages are allowed. a) Boats with less than 20” of molded depth at the driver’s seat (external keel to top of gunnel) must have a roll cage per APBA Super Sport class specs. 3) Driver’s seat must not be more than 36” aft of midships. 4) Steering: Mechanical push/pull (Ride Guide style) or Cable and Pulley Steering is allowed per APBA OPC standards. 5) Engines must be visually stock production and mass marketed class E (49.99 cu.in. max. total piston displacement). An overbore of up to .040 is allowed. Internal modifications are allowed, so long as externally the powerhead appears stock. 6) Power trim is not allowed. Engines with factory power trim must be operable at the transom only, or disconnected. In addition, all engines must be tied down to prevent kick-up. 7) Thrust jacks and upper mount snubbers are allowed. (No solid mounts allowed.) 8) Engine Modifications: a) Tilt switches, oil injection and rev limiters may be rendered inoperative. b) Two 1 inch diameter holes can be drilled in the lower unit above the cavitation plates (readily plugged for testing and water skiing). c) Cosmetic appearance may be changed. 9) Propellers - any through hub allowed. 10) Engines must be mounted such that when trim parallel to running surface, the center line of the propeller shaft is located 5 inches below the running surface. 11) 20-inch midsection only is allowed. |

I WONDER IF THIS IDEA WOULD GET INTEREST? CANADIAN PRODUCTION 75 Total Cu. In. Displacement......62 cubic inch PURE STOCK motors .....75 hp maximum factory rating Motors can be long or short shaft models. NO super stock parts...only original equipment or aftermarket replacement parts. Min. Boat Length...........................14 feet Min. Wt.-Boat, Engine, Driver..........900 lbs 1) Boats must be molded fiberglass 2) Driver’s seat must be in original seat area 3) Steering: Mechanical push/pull (Ride Guide style) or Cable and Pulley Steering is allowed . 4) Engines must be stock production and mass marketed models. An overbore of up to .040 is allowed. 5) Power trim is allowed with engines with factory power trim. You cannot add power trim to a model that didn't come with power trim. 6) Oil injection and rev limiters may be rendered inoperative. 7) Cosmetic appearance may be changed. 9) Propellers , reeds , blue printing, motor mounts are free TO CLARIFY!!!! If the motor model be it 15 inch or 20 inch had power you can run power trim..... EXAMPLE a 15 inch OMC did not come with power trim so you cannot add power trim.... unless it was original equipment on any motor You cannot run a 56 OMC on a 15 inch mid......that was not original equipment You must run the foot that came with the original motor. You must run original compression.....NO ENGINE MODIFICATIONS.,,,,motors are stock Minimum boat length is 14 feet! |

I wish they weren't so expensive. I would have a 115 HP fast strike on mine. For the thrill of course. |
