Looking for something in the range of 12x18, 11.5x20, possibly larger up to 12x20. This is for a Yamaha 70 with a small gearcase on a Voodoo in factory form. Merc Cleavers, for example.

Also looking for the smaller end of this range for a Yamaha Pro50 3cyl..

thanks,
M

I have all of those sizes. In fact I have everything from 17 to 25 pitch. Other T guys have shown interest in testing props. I could meet all of you at Gull Lake in Gravenhurst on a weekend and have a test day.

I'm in for a test day.

But I am looking to acquire something, or maybe have mine worked.

Matt, I just ran, for the first time, a Ron Hill 11 5/8" x 20 pitch 4 blade. On my heavy Rapid Craft, solid 57 mph, barely 58, at 6150-6200 rpm [1.83 gearing which is different than yours, that may be an issue]. Key is much better out of the hole, so hopefully improved mid range acceleration as well for our shorter courses. We shall see! You're welcome to try it out next spring, at a race or at the cottage near Parry Sound. Ron Hill also offers a 22 pitch version, and up to 12" diameter. US$300 or so, plus $50 shipping and GST.

Tom check that prop with a pitch gauge. It may not be 20 pitch. I could be less. When you ran my 18 pitch you hit the rev limiter. Based on that info I thought the ideal race prop would be a 20 or 21 pitch and getting you 60 mph.. I believe Matt has both 1:84 and 1:71 lower units. Matt did you find a Delta?

Tom, Don is right: it is possible the average pitch is not what you expect. I have a Ron Hill Signature Semi-Cleaver "12x19" that measured 12.25x20. Once I started using the 20 itch in my prop slip calcs, the results made more sense. That 12x19 has since been to Kawartha and I was told each blade was different, with one blade off by a larger amount (both pitch and diam) than the others.

Yes, I have 1.71:1 and 2.0:1 lowers. I had been using the 2.0:1 gears with 20/19 pitch props this past season.

BTW, I am interested in props around 11x18 to 12.5x21, but no longer in desperate need. I have a couple to use next year. The focus now is the hull. Tom, I have a couple props for you to try too if you wish. Both are 19" pitch.
