Hello everyone,

I'd rather not buy one on a whim, because I'm not sure if it will give me anything. However, if someone here has a ~30p prop they could lend me for about 10 minutes, it might save me a bunch of money. I'm looking to try 30ish pitch >13.5 diameter 4 blades compatible with flo torque. I guess Merc. examples would be Promax, Bravo, Bravo I, etc. Right now we're redlining, (with too much slip, I think) a 28p trophy+.

Let me know. If I can't find one to try, I'll go try to find a prop test program somewhere. I'll make it eventually!

-Matt

Thanks for mentioning it. Unfortunately that will be a bit too little pitch for me. These low gears make it difficult, quickly getting me out of realistic common pitch ranges

Hi there,

Probably the best would be to chat on the phone, but I definitely welcome the offer! I'll send you a PM and describe the below:

To give you an overview, we have never tried any over hub exhaust prop., which would be interesting, but difficult to come by for "tests." I don't know if the boat is too heavy for them or not, as we have always needed some degree of PVS holes on the through-hub. With that in mind, I think right now just about anything in the 28+ pitch range may be viable. Early on I thought that the Rakers would be the key. We had success with them, but once we raised the motor we ran into big issues. I'll most a few examples below, people can see some fun:

Raker I/II 26/28 pitch, 75mph blowout is a problem, have to be very careful coming out of the hole or it will over ventilate and fail to plane.

You need to contact Todd Bucknell (TBuck) @ Hydromotive Engineering.
Tell him what you've got.
What you've tried.
What has worked (sort of) & what hasn't.
He'll get ya fixed up......and if you get in touch with him sooner then later he can probably bring it with him when he comes up to race in Haliburton.
