MERC SHORT SHAFT 70's I have 3 Mercury 70 HP SHORT SHAFT motors for sale as a package. 3 cyl disti-less ignition. Two are complete with power trim, one has a cool Suzuki trim, the other has Merc trim. The third engine is in pieces, no trim. Includes a new decal set, some props, many spare parts. Everything for $3000.00 (not negotiable). Great light weight engines and legal for T-750 racing on a Delta or similar hull. Fresh lower units, Two gear ratios included, two types of steering included, all suitable for a T boat. Dave Elsey 905-319-0723 Res 705-756-1188 Cott dave@elsey.ca

Looks like there is a prop or two and a nose coned gear case. There is at least 3 people looking to this stuff. Maybe make a group purchase and split the parts. I am sure Dave would be happy to sell it to 3 different people provided everything is gone at the same time. |

Here are some more pictures - thought i'd post em just because i had them. By the way, the first picture Daveee posted of the 2 motors side by side is actually pretty old, before he restored them completely. The Engine you see in the following pictures is the engine that had the red-sticker cowling originally, but the steering was swapped because I needed cable/pulley steering and the cowling was swapped as well because it is modified to fit the other steering... and as daveee said, there are brand new cowling stickers in the package. My camera made a weird lighting effect on the prop - it doesn't actually look like that

The idea was to use the same motor rules for both classes. The T850 motors are too large and there are OPC classes all with cells. Unless you want vintage races, then we can't do T850 without cells. The T750 motors do fit in without cells. Currently there is Sport C [40 hp] and Fat C [50-60 hp] and the older Formula 50 [50 hp]. The PERFECT combination is the 50 to 60 hp motors on the small 12 to 13 foot tunnels. Jakes boat is one of those boats and the molds for that boat are still in Ontario. In race trim these run 65 mph on the oval. Fast enough for a thrill and slow enough to be safe. I haven't given up on this class. This class can be part of our division. I suggest we get a few of them out to test, same as we did with T Boat. See what works and what racers want. Then go from there. |
