To: TORC Members March 5, 2013
In light of TORC President recent vacancy, the Executive would like to clarify succession procedure.
TORC Executive has sought to clarify and present next steps to fill Presidents role. Per Roberts Rules, role of President automatically becomes Vice President’s obligation to fill. Should VP decline Presidents role, VP must resign, positions of President and VP are vacant, triggering new nomination and election process for each.
Jason Famme, VP, has evaluated requirements and commitment to adequately fill Presidents role, responsibilities to club and membership, and working together with current Executive going forward. TORC Executive is pleased to announce Jason enthusiastically accepts Presidents role for remainder of 2013 season.
As consequence, Jason’s decision creates Vice President vacancy. TORC will accept nomination’s prior to and at March 9th meeting. Nominations will be considered, candidates will have opportunity to address the membership. Given short notice, should members not be able to attend the meeting, a written address to the membership can be submitted to Executive prior to March 9th. TORC Secretary will read the address on your behalf. Once complete a vote for VP position will occur. This position is open to all members including current Executive. Should a current executive run for VP, their former position will be vacated for nomination and election to fill the position.
For transparency, Erik Luksep, current Membership Director (MD), has expressed interest for Vice President’s position. To run for VP, MD must tender resignation prior to running for VP, nomination and election. Thus TORC may be seeking candidates for MD at March 9th meeting, welcoming candidates to step forward. This position holds Executive voting privilege.
Finally, 2013 will be another great year for TORC. Executive with each category (ie: SO, T, Drag, T-Cat) is engaged with initiatives to increase TORC exposure, sponsorship, promote growth, develop a stronger fiscal organization, new membership, volunteers and club events. This is evidenced by a successful 2013 TIBS presence, and numerous registrants enrolled in 2013 Racer School.
This is your club, TORC and boat racing in Ontario will grow and be as strong as your involvement. We invite you to attend TORC meeting, 9am, Saturday March 9th, Toronto Hydroplane and Sailing Club.
Regards,
TORC Executive Jason Famme, President Heather Knox, Treasurer Eryk Csonka, Secretary Erik Luksep, Membership Director
