From TORC:

CBF Convention/TORC Annual Awards Luncheon

It's that time of year again, the much anticipated joint CBF Convention/TORC Awards Luncheon is just around the corner. This year, as a result of also hosting the CBF Convention, we will be having a series of meetings in the morning followed by the lunch and awards. We do need people to confirm as soon as possible as to their attendance. If you could please email info@torc.ca and confirm your attendance it would be much appreciated. Please confirm attendance at the meetings as well as the luncheon so we know how many people will attend both events.

Your confirmation must be received by February 1st, 2013.

The luncheon will be catered by the lovely and fabulous Norma Dixon. The menu will be similar to last year after the rave reviews we received.

The event will be held at the Toronto Hydroplane and Sailing Club on February 23rd.
Tickets will be $25 and will be provided at the door.

Agenda:
9am - Arrive and Register for the Meetings
9:30am - CBF General Meeting by Board of Directors
10:00am - 12:30pm - Category Meetings (held consecutively due to limited meeting space)
12:30pm - Cocktail hour / Bar Opens
1:30pm - Lunch Served
2:30pm - 5:30pm - Awards Presentation

If you have any questions you can email info@torc.ca and we'll do our best to answer them.

The February 1st deadline is coming very quickly so please email us to confirm your attendance as soon as possible. Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis.

ONE WEEK UNTIL TICKET DEADLINE

I've heard the response has been VERY low. If you have not replied, help the planning committee out and let them know if you are or are not going. Don't leave it until the last second unless you have to. I would say at this point the event is in jeopardy.

Lots of awards being handed out, hoist a drink to congratulate the winners in your class.

If you're new, come and meet some of the other drivers.

Vote on the rules that will effect your class.

This is open to all, not just TORC people. past racers, new racers, crew, fans, wifes, gf's, bf's, etc... a few kids show up too.

We have 50+ confirmed attendees, with representation from all classes, Stock Outboard, T, Drag and SLT.
Come out, contribute to YOUR club, and how YOU will be involved in 2013 to make racing a success.
Being a volunteer member driven club, don't ask what TORC will do for you, ask what you will do for TORC, and racing in YOUR category.

Hydroid.

A great time was had by all Saturday Feb 23, with over 50 attendees.
The morning started with CBF AGM, FYE 9/30/2012 FS were presented, Executive elections were held, followed by specific category meetings(eg: Inboard, Drag, SLT, Outboard). During Outboard category meeting, motion was proposed to establish T-Class as a separate category outside of 'traditional' Stock Outboard, similar to Drag and SLT. Motion was passed by CBF Outboard membership. See T thread on HPB/CBF for details regarding required steps to establish T as separate CBF category, including submittal of T-Class rules to CBF for approval.
CBF meeting adjourned mid-day, followed by TORC luncheon, CBF/TORC Special Awards, CBF High Points, Ontario Powerboat Racing Series class Awards, other Special Awards(eg: MFD & SML).
TORC offers particular thanks to Andrew Fralick and Paul Kryskow(Top Gun Marine) for organizing wonderful OPRS awards(flags and plaques) for class first place OPRS recipients.
TORC also thanks Marine Folding Dollies for donating an aluminum Folding Dolly for TORC Youth Competitor Award, awarded to Brad Noonan by draw, one of four current TORC Youth members racing, each of whom exemplify fierce competitive spirit and sportsmanship. TORC expects additional new youth members to race in 2013.

It was a fun day of taking care of business, celebrating 2012 accomplishments, planning CBF/TORC/OVPC 2013 racing season, looking at longer term strategy and opportunities to develop boat racing in Canada.

Erik Luksep
TORC Executive
CBF Outboard VP Chairman
