T Class Mission Statement and Compliance Agreement

Mission Statement
To promote T Boat Class Outboard Powerboat Racing in Ontario.

Objectives
To provide the framework for everyone to enjoy the sport of T Boat powerboat racing.
To welcome all people to T Boat Class powerboat racing and treat them equally.
To ensure that those who experience T Boat Class powerboat racing are encouraged to continue.

Principles and Practices
T Class welcomes all participants and we rely on self-compliance and self-policing. Those that deliberately take unfair advantage of this or behave in an inappropriate manner, either on or off the water, can expect action to be taken against them.
Competitors agree to compete in compliance with the CBF rules and behave in accordance with accepted standards of powerboat racing. When involved in a genuine dispute, all parties to the dispute and those deciding the matter will use the established CBF procedures for achieving resolution.
Foul or abusive language, intimidation, aggressive behavior or lack of respect for others and their property will not be tolerated.
Organizers and officials at TORC/CBF racing events have agreed to provide the safest and fairest racing possible.
T Class members agree to encourage competitors to compete, and behave in compliance with the above principles and practices. T Class is consistent with the practices of the Canadian Boating Federation.

Currently, here is TORC's official mission statement. Don, I definitely see where you are going with this, I just haven't had the time to review, busy time of year here. I know our new VP and others will have input as well. I believe our mission statement which we updated last season is inclusive. Cheers.

TORC Mission Statement
To be a Non-for-profit group and re-invest monies for the betterment of the club.
To be open to all forms of powerboat competition, while maintaining an emphasis on the growth and betterment of amateur Stock Outboard racing.
To promote sportsmanship, fair competition, camaraderie among participants, family involvement, and encourage youth participation in this International Olympic Committee recognized sport.
To promote the sport and reach out for new participants at events outside of race venues.
Advocating for the development and improvement of racing facilities provided by host communities.
To organize amateur level powerboat training and competitive events, with an emphasis on driver skill and safe operation.
Encourage participation at regional events and to those showing the abilities/interest, guide them to national and international levels.
Promoting and enforcing the publications on racing rules, safety, officiating, and race management published by the Canadian Boating Federation (National level), and the Union Internationale Motonautique (World level).
To represent area racers and officials to the North American national governing bodies, the Canadian Boating Federation and American Power Boat Association.
Provide a forum where participants, officials and potential participants may meet to discuss the development, promotion, and issues of the sport and establish uniform procedures for race administration.
To host an Annual Awards Banquet at which class and event trophies are awareded and individuals or groups who contribute significantly to the sport in the region are recognized.

I don't have any issue with that in theory. I should be part of the TORC registration form that everyone gets each year.

Good idea to bring it to light Don, but all these items are already covered in the TORC mission statement Jordan listed (on TORC's website) and in the CBF GRR's, except maybe the last item because of the way it is worded... and that item is up to the Race Committee listed on the sanction, a racer signing a form has no control over whether TORC follows the rules or not. What they can do is if they see something not being followed at an event is point it out to the CBF officials on site and if no action is taken, complain to CBF. Every event has at least two CBF officials on site.

So signing the existing race registration form means they already agree to all of this.

For the many new people int he last few years... you should read the rulebooks!!! Man am i sick of hearing the basic questions over and over. If you're spending $5,000-$20,000 to race a circle you'd think people would read the rulebooks. People shouldn't have to be reminded of all these things and reading the rulebook. The rulebook changes every year to some degree. You should all be familair with it.

Outside of an occassional occurance of minor infractions (ie weight, setup, lane changes, hitting buoys, etc), CBF has hefty penatlies for clubs, officials and racers doing things against the rules or minor things done on a regular basis. For example, if you wear a helmet or lifejacket that does not meet the rules, first time you are caught the rules state you will be automatically banned for 6 months. There are several current drivers who should take note of that. Repeat offenders of rule breaking or major rules broken could be taken as far getting you banned from racing in any UIM connected organization for life. And this action has been taken in the past by CBF.

One of the reasons for the T Booklet is to provide a T racer with all the information they need to know in simple terms. They don't have to search and read page after page of unrelated text and difficult to understand wordings.

"Mission Statement" should be one sentence.

For example - "To facilitate a not for profit organization for the safety and continuous improvement for the sport of vessel racing, its participants and spectators"

"Goals", "Objectives" and/or "Principles and Practices" can be multiple lines.
