If there are racers interested we will have several sessions during the winter months to education racers about the class. Subjects covered. Safety Equipment both for yourself and your boat Rules understanding them and the reasons for them. Boat set up and rigging Motors ..What works and what does not. Props..Differences.. Driving..proper lanes, the start, I will get experienced people outside of the current group to come in and teach. Also some of this will be done with one line video so you a do it at home. I may do most the lessions video for easy use and also the have them for future reference. |

You see why I said PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE CURRENT GROUP. I knew you characters would pick on Erik and Gig. I thought you would also mention Jake running with the plastic bag over the power head at Gravehurst and then at the end of the day Saturday puts his boat on Gig's trailer. |

That would explain why i noticed in Dunnville Jake was the only one with his boat number on his trailer, it maybe easier for the guys on shore if all trailers were numbered |

Lesson "1" How to learn from a video. Here is the video. You want to make note of the clock and the mph. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHsrilzxVBM There is a lot you can learn from this video eventhough it is not a T boat. The video has both clock and GPS MPH readings. Record the speed entering the corner. The speed thru the corner The time to go thru the corner. The exit speed out of the corner. The number of seconds it takes for the boat to get to it's top speed. Oval racing is all about acceleration. That boat exits the corner in the hi 30 to low 40 MPH range and is accelerating down the complete straight to almost the next corner. THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT YOUR T BOAT TO DO! It is like driving a 4 speed car in third gear. This boat is in third gear. It will react much faster to changes in the throttle compared to being in 4th gear. Now relate the 3 gear and 4th gear to your prop selection. Say 4th is 24 pitch. YES you will have more top speed, but it will be lazy and slow to get there... Eventhough your recorded top speed is higher at the end of the straight. THE ACTUAL TIME YOU TOOK TO COVER THE STRAIGHT IS LONGER! That explains why a boat with a lower top speed stays ahead of a boat capable of a higher top speed. So 3th gear would be 21 to 22 pitch. Much more punch out of the turn and it spools up faster....GOOD T boat example is Todd's number 13 boat. On a longer straight oval Todd would increase the pitch to gain more top end and give up a little of the acceleration out of the turn. The key is to continually gain speed on the straights. It is a DRAG race. It is about ET not MPH. Just like a drag car race. The winning car is the one with the lower ET and it may not have the higher MPH. Last point is let the motor over rev at the end of the straight. As long the the boat is still gaining speed. Just let it rev. You will not hurt it. |

Answer to e-mail Question: Hounddog, my Stinger 75 hp VooDoo can beat every raceboat on the lake. I would lap you guys. I am running close to 80 mph. Answer: I will pay your entry fee to run at Gravenhurst in 2013 and provide the safety gear. Our T group can learn a lot from you. |
