It was great to have live coverage of the Gravenhurst races. That is a first and hopefully not the last. I am sure people that enjoy the other classes found the race coverage entertaining , educational and interesting.
T850 was very educational. The coverage clearly showed how challenging it is to race a T850 and drive on the edge and try not to go over the edge. Situations happen everywhere during the race. The boat’s characteristics, speed and the changing water conditions affect the outcome of the race.
Boat setup, driving knowledge and being able to handle the extreme changes in water conditions was demonstrated by Kristain in every heat. Clearly Jesse has the quickest and fastest boat in the field. But he needs to have the lead in order to control and dominate the races as he did at the previous race in Tweed.
Kristain got good starts and got the inside lane thru the corners. He wasn’t as fast as Jesse on the straightaways, but he was faster thru the corners. Kristain was consistent lap after lap in the rough water. The boat was stable and in control. He didn’t push the boat over its limit.
