I always thought rules like these would encourage young racers. I would think there would be some wide differences in the speeds within the classes. But, these rules are very simple. Interesting idea.

2012 Mini Boat Racing Rules

1. APBA General Safety Rules will be followed.
2. All boats will have kill switches.
3. There are five (5) classes.
4. You will be expected to hold your lane in the corners.
5. Capsule boats will NOT be allowed. Reinforced cockpits, like APBA Sport C,
are encouraged.
6. The rules committee reserves the right to forbid you to run, and can also
assign your boat to any class that they deem correct.
7. No 1:1 type racing gear cases are allowed.
8. Drivers must sit, but can slide a little out of their seat while getting on plane if
necessary.
9. No transom height on any V-bottom classes.
10. Drivers must be at least 15 years of age. Parents or guardians must sign
APBA's Waiver and Release for any driver under 18 years old.

CLASSES:

CLASS - 1 - Fat "C": Any two-cylinder outboard on a tunnel or MOD VP Bottom.
The middle of propshaft must split the runner bottom or lower. Any V-bottom is
allowed; no transom height. Maximum 44 cubic inches. 13'6” maximum length.
Here is a T750 Tunnel or Mod VP class

CLASS 2 - Any E-Tec 30 HP BRP Evinrude. Any style boat is legal. Any transom
height. Overall weight for boat, motor and driver is 551 pounds or 250 KG (the
same weight rules as UIM).
This is GT30

CLASS 3 - Any 2-, 3- or 4-cylinder outboard, maximum 49 cubic inches on a Vbottom
hull, 13'6" maximum length. Any propeller allowed.

CLASS 4 - Aluminum Propeller Class: Any 44-cubic Inch or less on a V-hull or
any Mod V Hull. Must run an aluminum prop. 13'6" Maximum length. Any 2- or 3-
cylinder 40 Tohatsu is legal.

CLASS 5 - Any Tohatsu or Nissan 30 HP, any Mercury 30 made by Tohatsu. No
restriction on engine modifications. Any propeller. V-hulls ONLY!
