Another good video with a lot of information.
A few takeaways:
The total weight boat, motor and driver is likely 800 lbs. When we weighed 14 T850 boats with the same scale on the same day 12 were between 780 and 820 lbs.

The problem with the boat not settling for the turn. It was the characteristic the MX13 and the narrow MX15. The Checkmate racers called it “darting”. The boat suddenly catches and darts in a different direction.

The slide at the start of the turn. Could be caused by the skeg size on the nitro gearcase. It was fairly common and the solution was a larger skeg. The SST 60 gearcase has the larger skeg.

The minimum weight for boat, motor and driver in T850, APBA EP and APBA SSV..
All three classes ran similar boats, but there is a big difference in their minimum weights.
T850 is 726 lbs
EP was 850 lbs
SSV was 950 lbs.
Less weight makes a big difference in acceleration provided you are running equal horsepower. EP was a 50 cubic inch maximum while SSV was an SST 60 engine class.
The top speed in SSV was slightly over 80 mph with the SST 60 on mile run.
APBA: 5 mile/3 laps - Closed-Course Mar 28, 1999 Lakeland, FL Ron Titus Ron Titus Chupacabras (Critchfield) Evinrude 70.561
The mile record on a tunnel is 96 mph, a big difference.
